ELECTION INFORMATION:
Ballots for the November 7, 2017 Coordinated Election will be mailed next week October 16 – October 20, 2017. The Coordinated Election will be conducted as an all Mail Ballot Election.
What will be on the November 7, 2017 Coordinated Mail Ballot?
- RE 1 Platte Canyon School Board, Precinct 4. 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13
- RE 2 Park County School District Board, Precinct 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7
- Northwest Fire Protection District Ballot Issue, Precinct 1, 2
- Proposed South Park Health Service District, Precinct 1, 2, 3, 7
The ballot you receive in the mail is your official ballot and the ballot you need to vote and return to our office for processing. Ballots are mailed to all Active Eligible Voters.
As soon as you receive your ballot you may vote the ballot with your choices and then return it to the Clerk & Recorder’s Office during office hours or by mail. Remember to allow enough time for the ballot to reach our office! Postmarks do not count! Mail-in ballots must be received by 7:00 p.m. November 7, 2017.
TIPS FOR MAIL BALLOTS:
1. You will receive the ballot, secrecy sleeve and return envelope.
2. Select candidates and questions you wish to vote on.
3. Use a blue or black pen that will not bleed through the paper to vote your ballot. Completely fill in the oval next to the selection you want to vote for.
4. If you do not want to vote the entire ballot, simply mark your selections and leave the rest blank.
5. Place your ballot in the secrecy sleeve that came with your ballot.
6. Place the ballot inside of the secrecy sleeve in your return envelope addressed to Park County Clerk and Recorder, PO Box 220, Fairplay, CO 80440.
7. Before sealing the envelope, please sign the signature affidavit located on the back of the envelope.
This is required in order for your ballot to be processed.
We must compare every signature to make sure that the intended voter was the
one who signed the envelope.
8. We highly recommend that you:
• Drop your ballot in the 24/7 drop box located in front of the County Annex (501 Main Street, Fairplay), Bailey Motor Vehicle Office (59865 Hwy 285), or Platte Canyon Fire Protection District (153 Dellwood Dr., Crowhill) (no postage necessary).
• You may also mail your ballot using the envelope provided (adequate postage will be required)
QUESTIONS REGARDING YOUR MAIL-IN BALLOT:
What if my ballot does not arrive?
If your General Election ballot does not arrive by October 27, 2017 please come to the Park County Clerk & Recorder’s Office, 501 Main St., Fairplay, CO 80440 to obtain a replacement ballot.
I spoiled my ballot, now what do I do?
Please call the Park County Clerk & Recorder’s Office at 719-836-4223 or stop by our office. You may obtain
a replacement ballot during normal business hours; from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday thru Thursday.
What do I do with my mail-in ballot?
You can vote your ballot any time after you receive the ballot. You can either mail it back with a first class stamp or bring it to the Park County Clerk & Recorder’s Office at 501 Main Street, Fairplay, CO 80440 Or drop it in the 24/7 Drop Box located in front of the County Annex (501 Main Street, Fairplay), Bailey Motor Vehicle Office (59865 Hwy 285), or Platte Canyon Fire Protection District (153 Dellwood Dr., Crowhill) (no postage necessary).
You may do this any time up to November 7, 2017 all ballots must be received by 7:00 p.m. election day in order to be counted.
IMPORTANT DATES FOR 2017 COORDINATED ELECTION:
• October 16 –20, 2017:
Ballots will be mailed to all active eligible electors.
• October 16, 2017 Monday:
Last day to submit an application to register to vote through a voter registration drive. (no later than 22 days before the election)
• October 30, 2017, Monday:
Last day to submit an application to register to vote through the mail, a voter registration agency, a local driver’s license examination facility, or online to receive a ballot in the mail for the Coordinated Election. (through the 8th day prior to the election)
• October 31, 2017, Tuesday:
Last day to file an absentee ballot application to receive the absentee ballot by mail if you are absent from your home address.
• October 30, 2017, Monday – November 7, 2017, Tuesday:
Voters can register to vote, obtain a replacement ballot or drop off their mail in ballot in person at the Park County Clerk & Recorder’s Office, 501 Main Street, Fairplay, CO 80440
• Park County Clerk and Recorder’s Office Election Department in Fairplay will be open on Friday, November 3 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, November 4 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. for ballot drop off or replacement ballots.
• November 7, 2017:
ELECTION DAY
Park County Clerk and Recorder’s Office in Fairplay is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. 501 Main Street, Fairplay, CO 80440.
