Jeffco Board of County Commissioners Seeks Applicants for RTD Board Vacancy

The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners today announced a call for applications to fill the vacant position representing Jeffco on the Regional Transportation District (RTD) Board of Directors. Applications will be accepted today through 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 19.

The RTD Board position was vacated when Tina Francone was appointed to serve as a commissioner for Jeffco in late January. Under state statute, the BCC appoints a replacement to the RTD Board when a vacancy located within that respective county occurs. The vacant position represents District N, which encompasses a large portion of Jefferson County.

RTD provides bus and rail service to the Denver metro area and is governed by a 15-member, publicly elected Board of Directors. Each member represents the voters, residents and transit riders of a specific area within the eight-county RTD service area. Board members actively support and advocate for constituents’ concerns, while providing governance and establishing policies for the agency.

Applicants should be aware that this is a term-limited position that ends on December 31, 2018. If the applicant is interested in continuing to serve on the RTD Board of Directors past the current term, the applicant must run for election for the District N seat on his or her own accord. In addition, applicants must currently reside in District N.
