I just wanted to reach out to tell you about my candidacy for the Evergreen Parks & Recreation District (EPRD) Board of Directors. Please forward this email to 10 of your friends here in our mountain community.
WHATS UP?
This election is a very important one for our mountain neighborhood as EPRD is such a focal point of our community as whole. We all enjoy the social aspects of Skate The Lake and the Summer Concert Series; we use the District's trails and parks for hikes and biking opportunities; and of course all of our family members use the recreation facilities for all kinds of activities (organized and drop in).
To learn more about me please read my official bio that I have attached. As always, if elected, I will welcome feedback and input on what concerns you about our EPRD and hope you will contact me with questions about the District.
I also encourage you to find out more about Kathy Fasold who is also running (there are three open positions). I believe Kathy likewise has an open and inclusive approach to guiding the District's growth for the next few years.
WHY IS ROB SONTAG RUNNING FOR THE EPRD BOARD....
Generally the District does a great job of offering as diverse a program of classes and opportunities as the they can with our current facilities. The District has begun an effort to explore expansion plans for the District's facilities (you may have received their mailings in the past few days). This effort is needed and a necessary step towards providing our residents the facilities they need and deserve. HOWEVER, I have spoke with several members of the Citizen's Task Force who have felt that the District was using the task force not to collect information about the needs of our taxpayers but rather to ratify the plans that the staff had already developed. The proposal as being suggested does not meet the needs of aquatics program's various needs, does not adequately develop the much needed gymnasium space that is needed, and fails completely to address the field sports needs of community.
It is critically important that the process of developing the proposal for a potential bond issue and mill levy is comprehensive and inclusive. I hope to help the EPRD board and it's staff to reopen the process and develop a comprehensive master plan to address not only the perceived needs of today but the needs of the future as well.
