The link sends you to an article in the Flume. Many may have already read it. I found it to be well written, though the number of students being home-schooled was not addressed.
The enrollment has dropped 50% in the past 20 years. Perhaps a follow-up article will include the number of high school age children that reside in the PCHS district.

I was surprised to find how low attendance is now. Could be home schooling. My sister does that with online support for her youngest. Or can local kids transfer to Jefferson County schools?

Sadly, your link was broken because a portion of it is missing. Is it this one? www.theflume.com/free_content/article_1b...5e-eb2e1590cfed.html

Yes, FH, Platte Canyon students can transfer to Conifer High School and some have; however, in speaking with one area realtor, his feeling (based on the demographics to whom he has been selling) is that retirees are still predominantly moving up in the Foothills and they don't have kids to put in school so that's why enrollment is down. Bear in mind, that's only one realtor's perspective.

I like the article and how the reporter approached it, and presented it. Enrollment is caused by several factors (the sports factor was something I'd not considered, but sports were never that important to me in my academic career so no surprise there), and will not be solved simply. Having the discussion is a great start!

But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

I could see that retirees might be more drawn to living in the mountains than young couples with kids. But I also believe the fertility rate is dropping across America. People are having less children and often wait a decade before having kids. This might help lower the student population at PCHS too.
