America Applauds President Trump's State Of The Union

The speech was well received by most Americans, with the possible of exception of Senator Bernie Sanders, he pouted when Donald declared that America will never be socialist. Regarded as one of President Trump's finest speeches, it showed a much different side of him than his late night and early morning tweets. AOC also seemed to be off her game last night, sputtering, instead of responding to the main points. She is quickly getting a reputation as one who is more concerned reacting to opponents instead of campaigning for her policies. I would love to see her debate the New Green Deal with a leading conservative to help American voters find out how draconian their proposal is.

You're kidding, right? NO ONE regardless of news outlet didn't point out all of the false and/or misleading comments in this SOTU. Did you mean most Republicans applauded it? I'm not going to debate this, but your comment is as incorrect or misleading as the SOTU last night. Please see actual facts on El Paso, TX and job creation, among others.

IF you listened with intent......you would have heard a blatant bid to do something radical that will create chaos and attempt to block the building tsunami that is barreling his way. IT WAS A THREAT.....did you hear it? THE king is walking on thin ice and it is cracking considerable

The polling showed that 90% of Republicans liked it, a majority of independents approved, and even 30% of Democrats supported the President's speech. Of course the Left and the Leftist media is going to hate the message.

Pretty amazing. Apparently reality is a matter of opinion.

As an INDY...….I researched the stats...….apparently they are reasonable correct. I, however, read between the lines and verbiage (TRUMP's speech was a mock up and a mere
12 hours later HIS true verbiage appeared.) The words in SOTU address were just that words
WITHOUT true intent...…with. the exception of the THREAT. jmo

What is there to like from a man who lies constantly and who touts "unity" and "greatness" when all his actions are the opposite of that? Pretty words mean nothing when not backed up by action. When he calls for investigations to stop into him, his organizations and his presidential campaign, when he name calls, harasses and threatens those who are obligated Constitutionally to investigate him, are we supposed to just unthinkingly go along with it and not care about those who break the law? If he's innocent, he has nothing to fear; if he's guilty, no way in hell should we stop.

Partisan Audience Drives Approval of Trump’s Speech
While overall State of the Union approval was high among viewers, the audience was the most partisan since 2001.

According to a CBS News poll, 76 percent of viewers approved of the address, while 24 percent disapproved of it. Loyal supporters are more likely to watch a president's speech and according to a CNN poll, the audience for Tuesday's speech was the most partisan since 2001 making the results more favorable for the president.

Forty-three percent of viewers identifying as Republican and 24 percent identifying as Democrats. Thirty percent were independents, according to CBS.

Approval among Republicans was much higher than among Democrats, 97 percent compared to just 30 percent. Eighty-two percent of independents approved.

Jim Wright's thoughts on the speech:
State of Confusion

Was the theme of the speech supposed to be irony?

The achievements he idolizes are long behind us, fifty years and more, the works of other people, other generations.

This bombastic fool and his halting empty words and his transparent promises of unity and cooperation and I’m left to wonder, what was that “mission” he led off with?

You didn’t forget about that, did you?

This mission of America, what is it?

I guess we’ll have to wait until next year to find out.
