Here is another way to see the divisive distance between states.....making the map a major factor in our political positions.
WHERE do you (collectively)fit?

I find this to be a steaming pile of crap. I've lived in CO, CA, and AK and have only changed my ideology based on my line of work. When I was a liberal (pre 26) I worked in the restaurant/bar industry. I could have lived in Mississippi, NY, Kansas, or Kentucky and I would have still been a liberal who focused on unfairness and inequity. When I found a way to work for myself and discovered the freedom to succeed that this country offers, I quickly transformed into a conservative thinker (also after working my ass off and paying for my own college tuition). The states I lived in had absolutely nothing to do with my ideological thinking.... especially not today when I live in a state that is headed the way of California, yet I will not budge.homeagain wrote:

Now do people move to states primarily because there are more people who believe like they do? Absolutely, but how could you ever know what percentage of people do that? Many people are trapped because they are poor and can't move, so they are likely to think more alike as their families stay and multiply.
