Christians have never been a monolith voting block. There have always been a strong base of Christians in both the Republican and Democrat Parties. Some emphasize social justice, while others are often mainly about ending abortion, or restricting it. And some are torn both ways. America is following Europe and the youth are leaving organized religion so I think the evangelical vote will become less and less important this century.
But as the youth leaves organized religion, they are also leaving organized politics. So many more Americans are no longer members of the Democrat or Republican Parties. I like this, I hope DC sees that they do have to win our vote each time, instead of expecting our vote.
Another issue with the young? They still don't vote. Less than half as likely to vote compared to the Baby Boomers. Will they vote in greater numbers as they age? Or will they ignore a process they see as corrupt and full of empty promises?
