Stetcat (Steve) and Aspenleaf (Lisa).....Pinecam recent post....Steve died last nite...after a LONG,FEROCIOUS fight with many
major ailments. About 3 years of uphill battling bad health. A warrior till the end....BUT at what cost? (both monetary and physical)
I understand others belief system are important to them.....what I don't understand is the concept of clinging to life, when the ultimate destination
has already been decided.
Asking the question in earnest, because ,as I have statd before, QUALITY is the goal...from my pov.
Some want to cling to life no matter the cost. They are afraid of what comes after, be it nothing, an afterlife in some sort of punishment dimension or heaven. If you live life to the fullest every day, you aren't afraid of what comes next. JMO.
Thank you for the responses...."for the people who love U"...BB....thru personal experience,I saw my WONDERFUL FIL hold on for his wife....one of his adopted sons spoke to him (he was in
a semi conscious state, after withdrawing from dialysis)....Gil spoke to him saying...Ivy will be taking care of,we will take care of her.....U can go.....that was what he needed...he left a few hours later.....
Just me....I would not want my loved one to languish and linger,to go thru medical hell in ICU,to
have endless invasive medical procedures,to be on a feed tubing forever,to be vented....I am thinking of Christopher Reeves and the ferocious fight he lost.....or Farah Fawcett, who was brave
enough to document her fight....thru hellish treatments and unspeakable pain....to ultimately be
sedated into sleep and slip away....THOSE are the things I find hardest to understand.....and
why I posted the topic.

I personally have a condition that could pretty much take me at any time. I’m at peace with that.
I knew a guy who had lived five years with only half a working heart. He clung to life tenaciously, even though he was so limited in what he could do. He spent the last month of his life in the hospital treasuring every breath. And then you have others who are perfectly healthy and they will just throw their lives away.
It is likely they are going to start opening up the nation to the healthy, but seniors and those with breathing issues will remain in lockdown, often unable to see their friends and family. I am going through this with my father right now. He is in senior living and they are under hardcore lockdown. If he wants to visit us, they won't let him come back to the facility. It seems sad that that so many grandparents will spend their final months only seeing their children and grandchildren through a cellphone. I can see some making the decision to move in with their families even if it puts them more at risk.
