Cancel Culture, the Left's Ultimate Hypocrisy

So now the John Wayne Airport is to be renamed because he was supposedly a racist. Loreal cosmetics is cancelling the use of words like "whitening" and "fair" (oh the horror of those words lol) and of course there's the syrup, rice, and probably a massive list of other products that don't pass the leftist racial purity test. Now Jimmy Kimmel has to go into hiding for six months because he dressed like a black basketball player in a comedy sketch. I don't see that as racist BTW, but he is expendable because he's easily replaceable.

So what about the Democrat party itself and it's members past and present? The KKK was started by Democrats. The civil rights act was fought by Democrats. Robert Byrd was a KKK officer and a Senate Democrat for 51 YEARS. Ralph Northam has gotten a pass for wearing blackface (or wearing a KKK outfit, he can't remember which).... There's so much more that it's far too much to list here.

So if we are to get rid of everything that was seen as racist, why does the Democrat party and Democrats always get a pass, especially from our worthless media? I really don't think the vast majority of these people who tear down statues and get outraged by pancake syrup have little to no clue about the party they will be voting for. It's very obviously why the media doesn't remind us of history that's inconvenient to the cause, too many people would be informed about this ultimate double standard that has masked the history of the Democrat party.

Change my mind, I welcome a civil debate here.

AS WITH EVERYTHING, when a problem is identified and the mode of operation is in question, the remedy/
solution is to swing RADICALLY to the other side, eventually the mode of operation settles into a reasonable
and comfortable solution.... we are wrenching our way to the other side, the scale has NOT achieved a
blended balance., cancel culture is a fine example of this paradigm,as is the destruction of "offensive"
culture icons.

You are spot on with your summation and critique. The left is nothing but hate and regret - they hate America and all Her goodness and regret the stupidity and that most of them dodged the draft among other cowardly acts.

Oh you didn't have to because it's all around us. However, if you're afraid to "offend" give the Leftist Dems, socialists and enemies of America a pass.

I believe "afraid",in the political sense, is not a word I recognize. I call it, as I see it....FUBARED.

The latest victim of "Cancel Culture" is Woodrow Wilson(D). President of America during World War I. He was horribly racist and set back minority hiring in DC several decades, but he also won a Nobel Peace Price, and worked to make the world a better place. How about if instead of canceling these people of history, let's show them as flawed human beings like we all are.
Thomas Jefferson, slave holder, yes, but he was also the writer of the Declaration of Independence and a great President who doubled the size of the republic. Columbus? He was racist, but he was also a brave explorer who risked it all to find new worlds.

I saw a quote from Archbishop Dolan in the WSJ that went something like this, "if we strip the names of all the imperfect people from churches and schools, soon they will only be named Jesus and the blessed Virgin Mary."

Some of the most amazing people in history were deeply flawed, in fact, sometimes they only discovered their abilities after stumbling.

The funny thing about this cancel culture is that it only goes one way. A racist ant-Semite has his own show on MSNBC and is a a friend of Obama and Louis Farakahn, another major racist. The double standard is so obvious it's almost laughable. If we're going to take this crap seriously, it has to go both ways or it's just more of the same political bullshit.

And how about Planned Parenthood? Margaret Sanger? Hello? Well known for wanting to eliminate the black race yet that death mill gets tax dollars and stimulus money. If you can't see this hypocrisy you're either clueless or lying to yourself.

He may be a goon, but he is our goon? The best example of that is the Virginia governor. He wore blackface in college and still wasn't forced to resign. His nickname in his yearbook was "Coonman".
Yet statues of emancipators like Lincoln and Grant are defaced instead.

I was going to start a new thread that lists all the newest cancellations by Democrats/liberals/progressives, but then I remembered this one, so I'll just put them here.

I really can't think of anything more un-American than this relatively new weapon that happily destroys anything in it's path that may not be in line with progressive ideology (which seems to change often). If the is a cancelling culture propagated by the right, I just haven't seen it. If I'm not informed, please show me what I'm missing (not your personal anecdotal experiences please).

Lately we've seen Dr Seuss, Pepe le Pew, Aladdin, and a few other cartoons. Meh, no big deal, right?

But what about when you start being cancelled for your thoughts or your vote or your skin color? I think our country made huge progress when it comes to skin color, but from about 2009 on, the progress has been erased a bit, or a lot. We see Coke asking it's employees to be "less white" and there is zero outrage from the left media. What if the bad color was black? Do you think the media would cover that one non stop and make sure Coke was cancelled? This is one of those situations where the company should be cancelled for denigrating it's white employees, for making them feel guilty about who they are. Yeah, yeah, I know, it's just a righteous payback for what black people went through and in some cases still going through. I'm sorry, but payback is not the answer if we don't want to start a race war, or even a civil war.

I'm going to try very hard to have an open mind and understand the viewpoints of anyone who thinks this new trend has any positive aspects that could outweigh the negative and dangerous.

What am I missing?
