Altho it is a movie,it is a TRUE story...FREEDOM WRITERS...late 90's movie...it speaks EXACTLY to the
problem....those specific schools are NOT teaching, they are holding cells till 300pm, the teachers are just
trying to hold it together without fights or students acting out....the curriculum is woefully lacking in content
that is meaningful and could apply to their everyday lives.

Case in point,in the movie,an incident arose that brought a teaching moment....The HOLOCAUST. NOT
one student knew what that word meant, let alone the event itself...ERIN GRUENWAL revolutionized the
system (with little help from the school system)...she bought books for class THE DIARY OF ANN FRANK
and took a field trip with her students ...to the holocaust museum...they UNDERSTOOD that dire paradigm,
because THAT was what they were living each day. THESE teenagers became avid students and many
went on to college...because some one CARED and could "see" each and every one of their lives.

Imagine trying to teach a remote learning class of second graders from your home when you have your own children running around? JeffCo wanted to require teachers to work from the school building, but some of them said they wouldn't have anyone to take care of their own children then. So they are giving some of the teachers the option to teach from their home. Hopefully most of the teachers won't have that distraction.

.

Yet liberals just love to take away alternatives like charter schools that can actually give these kids a chance... look what happened in DC. But no, the fix is always to throw more money at the problem as if the definition of insanity does not apply in these cases.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
