I am going to admit my bias here and say I like a nice cigar from time to time. Sin taxes sound like a good thing, tax the small percentage of folk who still smoke. I think it is 10% in Colorado, but I believe this tax discriminates against the poor. Lower income Americans are more likely to smoke so they will be paying the majority of this. And because you are taxing a minority of people, these sin taxes tend to get out of hand. In Canada, the tax on cigars is 90.5%! That is just criminal, when the government is making 90% of the money off a cigar sale.
