Recreational Magic Mushrooms:Oregon

Looks like Magic Mushrooms will be legal in Oregon, and heroin, cocaine, and LSD will be decriminalized. Will this start a new trend of drug tourism? Go to Portlandia and take a trip of another kind! Will this encourage stoners to move from Colorado to Bend, Oregon?

There is some evidence that Shrooms can be a powerful treatment for PTSD and other mental issues so I will be interested to see what happens with this.
The drug decriminalization? In some ways, I see drug use as a victimless crime so I don't mind seeing users go to treatment instead of prison. Save prison space for more serious criminals.

Fred,
What will you do with the Meth dealer, who pushes his drugs on teen-agers? Is he a non-violent offender, therefore only to be seen as arrested for a victimless crime?

There are always victims and there are always double standards. Think about al the drugs we can't buy without a prescription, drugs that are not deadly. We have to get permission from a doctor so we don't hurt ourselves and if we were to sell or give prescribed drugs to someone else, we could get in a lot of trouble.

A good friend of mine died from a heroin overdose because some scumbag he met sold him the drugs when he was depressed and was losing his business. I know it wasn't suicide, his heart just couldn't handle it. I don't care about what people decide to put in their bodies. I do think dealers should be made an example of so that it's less likely that people like my friend have easy ways to find those drugs.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Dealers wouldn't be protected by this decriminalization. And I think they could also still get them on contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

If the drugs are decriminalized then possession and distribution is not a crime, by definition.

No. They can write that you don't suffer jail time for small amounts, but you go to treatment instead. For large possession amounts, you could still pay fines and serve jail time because they assume you are a dealer or a mule.
