For the last few decades there has been a trend in America to vote straight ticket, but this election didn't go that way nationwide.
Trump was so hated it looks like suburban voters voted against him but continued to support their GOP national and state politicos. (Excepting Colorado which was very dark blue.) So while the Donald lost as badly as Hillary in 2016, 27 statehouses remain Red and a majority of governors are Republican.
Even Democrat radicals took some lumps, AOC and Omar got less votes in their districts than Senator Biden did. So it looks like their message of "Defund The Police" wasn't popular in the urban areas.
