With a respite between impeachments, (I have no doubt that the democrat House will once again take an impeachment vote for whatever reason), let's exam some of the proposed policies of the new Administration. Perhaps a better way to approach the topic is to ask if there is anyone who would like to espouse one or more policies that have been promulgated. For example, open borders, stopping construction of the Keystone Pipeline, etc?
Please take your time. Tomorrow if there are no supporters of the current administration perhaps we can delve into the effect of the new Administration polices on the state of Colorado,
Opening the border to illegal immigrants during a global pandemic is the least popular executive order from President Biden. Back on topic, I support President Biden repealing price controls on insulin. Let the market decide, not government bureaucrats.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
Biden, for 60 days, has frozen the Trump adminstation's rule regarding the purchasing of insulin by community health centers. The insulin issue is complicated, there are now only 3 manufacturers of the product. Patents have expired or are about to on most insulins. However, the manufacturers bring out a new version and obtain a new patent and no longer manufacture the previous version of their insulin. Thus the price is supported if not increased. The big question is whether a generic insulin will be produced.
The following article is an excellent precis of the insulin situation. I have copied the summary if one does not wish to read the aticle.
UNDERSTANDING THE INSULIN MARKET
Tara O'Neill Hayes, Margaret Barnhorst
Executive Summary
Of the growing diabetic population in the United States, roughly 8.3 million people require insulin to regulate blood glucose levels, and it is estimated that worldwide insulin use will increase 20 percent by the year 2030.
Competition in the insulin market has been limited for several reasons: Products are not interchangeable, there are essentially only three insulin manufacturers in the U.S. market, and no regulatory pathway has existed to allow biosimilar products to create generic-like competition for insulin.
By the end of 2020, nearly all existing patents for insulin products will have expired and a regulatory pathway for biosimilar insulin in the United States will be available—changes that should facilitate downward price pressure.

I support price controls on life saving drugs. This drug is not optional for many and gouging is something that should not be tolerated. I'm very pro-capitalism, but we shouldn't be going back to the robber baron days...
What Trump wass attempting to do was to get the pharmaceutical companies to charge the same price to the U.S. as they do to Canada,, etc. It was never a setting of the price of the medication, rather a leveling of the playing field.

The average price per unit across all types of insulin in the United States is $98.70, which is just over six times the drug's average price in Canada -- about $15.70 -- and just under six times the average price in Britain and Japan -- about $16.70 -- the researchers said.
The Biden administration has broken with historical norms by firing Trump-appointed members of independent agencies serving fixed terms, a move that one appointee claims is illegal in a lawsuit. At least one Democrat supporting the effort says this must be done because some of the appointees are too white.
According to the Democrat deputy mayor of D.C., John Falcichio, one of the reasons why these appointees have to go is because they’re too white.
