Your dr. office needs a SPECIALIST in coding.....that could mean the difference of small out of pocket,to
OMG I'm broke...I have fought this battle ALL THE TIME....example,bond density test...dr office sent the order over to hos.(THEY knew the code, sent it back to my dr.office THREE SEPARATE times..they finally got it right)....I was clueless, not anymore.
There is an entire arena of coder companies that will check your bill for errors....(for a fee ,of course) STILL
worth the $$$.)
There were mitigating circumstances that made the expenses unqualified for insurance. It was settled in the courts and not favorably for me. It’s done now, the bills are paid and I’m now heavily insured and a lot smarter about what not to do.

Wow. That's a lot of money to spend on medical bills. I seriously sympathize with your plight. You do realize that, if your situation happened in another first world country, you wouldn't be out "high six figures" of your cash. It would be paid for by the government.
Why is it that the U.S. is the only developed country that doesn't view healthcare as a right? How is it that our country is the only one that hasn't figured out how to implement single payer? Instead, we lumber along with "health insurance," which is essentially betting against yourself that you won't get sick or need a doctor. Our system is ludicrous.
I agree with that to a point. I almost flew to Great Brittain to see if I could get the surguries over there but found out that I would have had to wait something like 2 years and be there that entire time. It would have left me in a wheelchair, so kind of glad it happened here even though it was quite expensive. The plus side is that I got very adept with real estate in order to pay the costs. I could have filed bankrupcy and maybe should have, but didn't. That real estate knowlege has treated me very well for the last few years and I can pretty much live how I want now.

No, it would be paid for by taxpayers, the government doesn't create wealth, it can only devalue the dollar by printing money.
You also make the same mistake most big government fans make... you assume THIS massive bureaucracy is capable of creating an efficient health care system that would cover everybody, including every single person who can get across our border. The fools you voted for in 2008 couldn't even manage to build a website for the unaffordable care act. If you think the current set of fools are capable of fixing the health care problem I'd just like to hear your reasoning based on their histories in government service.
I'd like there to be choices like we had before the ACA when I bought a super cheap catastrophic policy for $325 a month. In 2010 when I got two cancers and a heart attack, my out of pocket was around 10k after two years of surgeries, chemo, and radiation therapy. My policy was grandfathered in so I still have the same coverage but my deductible doubled and my premium has almost tripled.
You'll have to show me a big government program that has worked without massive inefficiency and fraud before I'll ever believe this government can handle the health care for everybody.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
How is it, Rick, that every other developed country can make this work? Every other first world country has some form of single payer program?
Why is it that only our country has bankruptcies due to medical expenses? I'm not asking the government to make medical decisions for me, which is what many health insurance companies do, I'm asking the government - and yes, that's taxpayers - to foot the bill. I would gladly pay more in taxes if I didn't have to pay for health insurance, which for me, goes largely unused.
Just think of how easy your life could be if you didn't have to fight your insurance company and the hospital to figure out who was going to pay for your health care. How any hours of your life have you spent on the phone with those two entities only to be told you have to take care of thousands of dollars that aren't covered?
Our system is a mess and will eventually transform to single payer. I just want it to be sooner rather than later.

Government does make medical decisions for you in a British style health system. For example, if you are older, they might no longer cover an expensive procedure.
Plus this comes with high taxes that extend to everyone. For example, Canada has a 90% tobacco tax on cigars to pay for that medical benefits.
And if you have money or a good job in Canada or the UK, you buy private health insurance. Or come to America for procedures that are too expensive back home. Example? There are more MRI machines in Colorado than the Canadian prairie provinces combined.
Another way government healthcare works, triage. Since they can't afford enough surgeons and equipment, they put patients on long waiting lists and many die before getting the proper treatment.
