Earmarks Approved By Secret Republican Vote

They had been banned a few years ago after embarrassing stories about the Bridge To Nowhere and other pork projects. Now the GOP has decided they might want to get some benefits going to their districts again. Plus side? You will see more bipartisan bills. But I think you will also see more spending, especially because President Biden wants to pass a major infrastructure bill this year.

I have mixed feelings as to earmarks. Should the goal be to bring down spending or get what you can for your voters? Be that as it may, I am distressed by the fact the Repubicans took this vote behind closed doors. I would urge those of us in Congressional districts represented by Republicans to find out which way their representative voted and why.
Being represented by Neguse (D) I have no one to contact that speaks for me.

There are a few Republican representatives who have declared they didn't vote to bring back earmarks, but I agree, it should have been a public vote.
