Vaccine Experiences?

I just read that article about how Canada totally botched their vaccine program. I guess socialized medicine isn't always good.
Luckily America over ordered vaccines and hopefully we will start sending some north and south to other nations.
Canada's vaccination rate is tied with Brazil's, a 3rd world nation. Shameful.

I just got my first yesterday when hubby went for his and I asked if they'd call me if they had any unused at the end of the day that would go to waste otherwise. They called at 6:25 to ask if I could be there in 15-20 minutes before they closed the clinic for the day to get the last dose left. He got Pfizer's, I got Moderna's. Slightly sore arm this morning, nowhere near as bad as a tetanus booster.

The lady giving the shot said to take Tylenol, not Advil/ibuprofen (anti-inflammatories will reduce immune system functioning and you don't want to slow that response down) and be sure to stay hydrated. She also said that the side effects for Moderna were a little worse than for Pfizer, and for women than for men, so before my 2nd shot, to go ahead and take Tylenol 24 hours ahead of time and keep taking it after if soreness occurred. Full dose, every 6 hours.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

I got my first jab of Pfizer last Monday. It was fairly painless. A little sore around the vaccination point for a few days. We live in a fairly small town in the mountains. The health clinic had two rows of people lined up - socially distanced.

There was just me and a bunch of old people.

We've been living here in Costa Rica for 5 1/2 years and we love it. I doubt we will go back. People are much friendlier, laid back, and happy. Our rented house ($450 a month) backs onto a coffee finca (farm) owned by our German landlord. When we first moved in, the rent was $400 a month. Our electricity has gone up a little since they installed smart meters.... about 30 a month We have applied for temporary residency.

Where we live, at 3,600 feet where year-round temps range from upper 60s at night to 80s during the day. No heating or air conditioning needed.

There are about 50,000 to 100,000 gringos here of various political persuasions. You can tell the conservatives because they refuse to wear masks in restaurants, as ordered by health department, nationwide.

Costa Rica not for everyone, but if you can adjust, it's amazing.

OFF TOPIC...
What is the best quality or most surprising thing about C. R.?
What is the worst or hardest thing to adjust to?

How peaceful, healthy, and happy the inhabitants are. It is pura vida, a way of living. Life expectancy is higher here than in the U.S. I was also surprised that Rabies is all but wiped out in dogs here.

Government bureaucracy. Even some private business bureaucracies are frustrating. They work on a different system here, with particular steps that must be taken to accomplish a task. In almost all hardware stores, you aren't allowed to roam the store. You go to the front counter, tell them what you want (or show them a picture) and they get it for you. Then, the person writes up the order and you take it to a different person to pay.

They based the legal system here on the Napoleonic Civil Law rather than Common Law.

If there's more interest or questions, I can start a thread in The Campfire.
