I've read this thread and am wondering what your opinions are based on. Are your opinions based on the opinions of others or are they based in statistical facts? I just had a conversation with a friend in real life that has the same opinions you have and he couldn't come up with any facts that support "systematic racism that our brain-dead president just labelled America with.

The problem with this kind of thinking is that it completely ignores the underlying facts that lead more young black men into situations where police are more likely to be present. Nobody seems to want to talk about the the fact that the majority of black men and women have been born into poor families that is more likely to have one parent present. They are also much more likely to be enrolled in a horrible public school that limits their chances to get anywhere in life. The most egregiously ignored statistic is the one that proves without a doubt who is more likely to take the life of a black man, and that would be another black man and not a cop. If we don't want to talk about the facts that put black men in risky situations, there's never going to be a solution that actually helps black Americans.

This demonization and instant media guilty verdicts will result in less people wanting to risk their lives everyday to protect the population and we will be forced to arm ourselves for that lost protection... this is common sense IMO, but you're welcome to convince me otherwise.

recognition for me. Some time back I posted this when Treyvon Martin was the topic

Oprah Winfrey brought together a representative group.of people from that town...1/2 white and 1/2 black.
They were on stage ATTEMPTING, without success, to discuss/UNDERSTAND the incident that had torn the town apart. NOT ONE person could step back and "see thru the others eyes"...it was 90 minutes of U
wrong,from both sides....NOTHING was accomplished,except frustration and a sense of resentment.

I enjoy watching a PBS SERIES''FINDING YOUR ROOTS''.......it is on each week, with guests, both black,brown and white. Tracing that person's heritage/dna and presenting it to them in a bound book.

The amount of EMOTION,from the guests,is truly wonderful and HEARTBREAKING at the same time.
The people of color R the heartbreaking stories (there R some that r positive,not many). When U discover
that your entire family lineage was I. D. by gender,race,age (without a name attached) and SOLD for
pennies on the dollar....it brings tears flowing...in fact, JOHN LEGEND, the singer, could NOT continue
the show ( they re edited it)

THESE things R hard to embrace,but they r part of this nation's history.

For a sense of the obstacles facing the POOR and the lack of educational opportunity, I recommend
watching 'FREEDOM WRITERS' Hillary Swank portrays a REAL TEACHER in Long Beach Calif]f. in the
90's. The ''pigeon holed" paradigm of providing an education to the poor is EYE OPENING and sad.
I am not sure it has improved since the 90's.

And sadly the most crime ridden and worst schools are in Democrat districts.

NO THERE IS A LACK OF RECOGNITION.....It is somewhat amazing that MY POV is wanted in MY WORDS, when no one else is willing to put words down to the question at hand.
