In a desire to increase vaccine production, many want to suspend the patents for the many vaccines developed after months of research and spending.
There are a couple of reasons this is a bad idea. It discourages pharmaceutical companies to develop new vaccines if their work is stolen by government mandate. And consider this, would people have even less trust in Covid-19 vaccines is they knew that governments and companies who hadn't developed them were now producing them?
Would you trust a generic Coronavirus vaccine? Or even scarier, a government made vaccine?
