The organizers say that violence against the LGBT community is escalating, so it's best to keep the police away.
Excuse me for being ignorant if there is information I don't know about, but where is the evidence that police are targeting LGBT unjustly? These horrible people won't even let police attend who are part of the LGBT community. Could one of you explain the logic and how this is helpful?
There are so many instances of intolerance coming from the side that boasts about being the most tolerant... where is the media outrage and why shouldn't we all be outraged?
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
I read a story about this too and it was quite sad. In the 1970's, gay police officers fought with their bosses for the right to march together in the gay pride parade. They eventually won and marched proudly. Now the parade is banning them.
If the gay community has a problem with the police, wouldn't it be better to talk and march with them instead of outright banning them?
And I am curious, will they still expect the NYPD to police the parade?

''The decision, which organizers announced on Saturday, follows years of pressure from some L.G.B.T.Q. activists, who have maintained that law enforcement was out of place at a march with roots in the 1969 anti-police riot outside the Stonewall Inn in Manhattan. It also comes after similar decisions in other cities around the country.
The president of the Gay Officers Action League, Brian Downey, criticized the decision as exclusionary, calling it “shameful” and an “abrupt about-face” in a statement.
“Their response to activist pressure is to take the low road by preventing their fellow community members from celebrating their identities and honoring the shared legacy of the Stonewall Riots,” Mr. Downey said.''

''The decision by Pride organizers reflects shifting attitudes toward policing in the city and the growing pressure on city institutions to address longstanding complaints about diversity and inclusion.
Mainstream L.G.B.T.Q. organizations have for decades been criticized for prioritizing the concerns of some groups over others, with transgender people and people of color saying the push for progress has often left them behind''.
“The issue is, how do we make Pride safe for the people who feel the most marginalized and have often been left out of the conversations about how Pride is run?” said Beverly Tillery, the executive director of the New York City Anti-Violence Project, an L.G.B.T.Q. rights group.

Bingo!
Of course they will, but the NYPD should instead stay away and fight the crime that is exploding in that poorly run city.
I read somewhere that one of the original organizers of this parade (a gay man) actually became a police officer. If these people don't want police around, the police should let them all defend themselves and see how that goes. The biased stupidity really amazes me.

I can't believe they still want to hold Stonewall against them. If you are going to blame the police for the actions of decades ago, why not also blame the mayor's office too? The police at Stonewall retired decades ago.
