New Federal Holiday: Juneteenth

President Trump tried to get this done last year, it took awhile, but it finally happened! Federal employees will get a new holiday on June 19th. The US is finally following the example of Red State Texas who have honored the day Texas slaves got their freedom in 1865. Texas passed their holiday forty years ago.

Juneteenth has been a popular celebration in Colorado for years now, will the state add the holiday too?

In that it is now a Federal Holiday, the state of Colorado will surely follow. I believe that this is the 11th paid holiday for Federal workers, i.e. another holiday was not dropped to keep the total at 10.

The CDC cancelled its Emergency Meeting regarding the incidence of myocarditis following vaccination due to the new holiday, it has been rescheduled for later in the month. So much for the Emergency.

“Giant Mistake” – CDC Delays Emergency Meeting On Post-Vax Heart Inflammation Due To Juneteenth

The meeting, which was deemed an emergency when announced last week, will now be folded into a June 23 to June 25 virtual meeting, the CDC said.

The agency did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

CDC officials planned to present to the agency’s vaccine advisory panel updated information on myocarditis and pericarditis in people who have received a COVID-19 vaccine.

A CDC official told members of the Food and Drug Administration’s vaccine advisory committee on June 10 that more than 800 reports of post-vaccination heart inflammation have been submitted to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, a passive reporting system run jointly by the administration and the CDC.

That included 475 among those 30 or younger, of which 226 have been verified as meeting the CDC’s working case definition.

There was some speculation that Columbus Day will go away, but I think they will get another day off. So African-American healthcare workers whose ancestors were slaves will still have to work. But white bureaucrats in DC will have the day off. What I always hated about Veterans Day, private sector veterans had to work, but not political appointees.
