Miami Building Collapse

Struck at 1:30 AM in the morning. Imagine the horror of waking up to your apartment collapsing around you? Considering it was early morning, you have to guess most of the residents were home so I fear the death rate could be one hundred or more.
Hopefully they can find survivors in the rubble. The picture reminds me a lot of the Murrah building in Oklahoma.
Now comes the big question? How did this happen? Some speculation that the 80's era building was built with substandard material and design but the inspectors were bought off with bribes. Others think the rebar used was eaten away by the concrete it was supposed to reinforce.
So should we expect to see more of these happen in the future, the sea air can be quite corrosive. Or is this just a freak disaster?
I know if I lived in a waterfront multilevel building I would be concerned right now. Hurricanes and sinkholes also have to be a concern for those who live on the Florida coast. Recently home insurance premiums have shot up in the state, and some companies have been canceling policies because they don't want too much exposure to risk if a big hurricane hits Florida again.

President Biden has given the site federal disaster status. And Florida is starting to inspect 40 year old buildings. This complex has been having issues for years. Time to go after the owners, management, and derelict inspectors?

New cause? They had flooding issues in the basement. This might have weakened the supports. Time for Florida to limit new construction to only four stories?

The numbers 3 and 9.....THREE YEARS ago the extensive damage was accessed ,the $$$$ to repair was
9 MILLION.

IF this is happening across Florida (the problem),WHAT DO YOU THINK IS the condition of our ancient
bridges, underpasses.overpasses and infrastructure ,in general. THIS is what kicking the can down the road looks like.....across ALL of AMERICA....and they are bitching about the bill to repair?????

Someone is receiving calls from their grandparents land-line. A good sign. Israel and Mexico have sent in expert teams to search the rubble.
