The Democrats have written a bill that would increase tariffs on nations that pollute. I sort of like this idea. For too long nations like China and India have been able to increase their coal consumption while the West is expected to do most of the sacrifices to keep carbon consumption lower. Plus China needs to be penalized for many other things like hacking. Downside? Adding tariffs to products from polluting nations will raise prices for consumers, especially the working poor. I think this bill has a good chance of getting enough bipartisan support to pass.
