Moscow has been building relationships with Taliban for awhile...since 2018, THIS alliance is a "must" because of border issues...it is ALSO a
reminder that war brought down the USSR (IN PART)...and so, the past does not want to be repeated.
Interesting take from the BBC because I just read an article that says Russia is funding a Taliban resistance movement based in a former Soviet Republic and is also having combined military exercise with that same republic right across the Afghanistan border. Perhaps telling the Taliban that they shouldn't meddle in neighboring former Soviet nations?
