If the brilliant young minds like those of AOC had their way, these evictions would be permanently banned and all those rich landlords can just pound sand. If that doesn't work out, then there could just be a permanent fund that renters could tap into whenever they fall short of funds. Of course none of this would not require any kind of accountability for what they would spend their income on.
Yeah, I know, I'm just making this up to make Democrats just look silly. There's no way they would ever make anything free just so they could get more people to vote for them... that would be silly.

President Biden hinted what they were doing was illegal. If you want to deny the ability for landlords to collect rent, Congress needs to pass a law. If the Democrats really wanted to be fair about it, compensating landlords with checks from the government should have been part of the budget bill. 6-3 decision.

Democrats don't seem to understand the power of incentives, unless the incentives help them to get more votes. This push away from capitalism and toward socialism isn't going to serve this country very well. If we have a government that provides everything to those who are not incentivized to fend for themselves we will just get more people who don't want to fend for themselves. Anyone on this board who has had dependent children knows how easy it would be to ruin their healthy need for independence. Both of my older kids struggled when they moved out but they found ways to get by including finding multiple roommates and cutting back on non-essential purchases.
Please don't lecture me now about the people who don't have options, I know there are plenty and those people should be helped. The problem is the blanket way the gov't creates these giveaways. They don't vet the people who may or may not be able to afford their rent and they also don't look at the financial situations of the individual landlords who have to take the hit.

Great point. So much fraud was revealed in the PPP program. And unemployment compensation also have huge percentages of fraud. They even hacked my sister's information to file unemployment claims on her even though she has been working for decades.

Unintended consequences? Due to the daft Democrat plan of suspending rent collection, some landlords are now requiring six months rent up front. Have to protect themselves against politicians who don't understand economics.

That's what I would do as well. I was managing a big buy here pay here repair shop and I always knew which cars were going to be repossessed when they came in for their $20 oil change (which cost us about $23 on average). The future repos were almost always the ones that reeked of weed and were trashed inside and out. These were also the cheaper cars that only required about $500 down. The cars that had down payments of over $2000 were almost always better kept and rarely got repossessed. If people have enough skin in the game they are incentivized to find a way to make their payments.

WATCH forbearance, pre foreclosure, judgements and liens.....and the possible effects on the economy, even
tho interests rates are low...banks will just tack the back payments to the backend of the loan....UNLESS
the keys are just mailed in and the owners walk away. (happened the last go around) jmo
