The anthrax vaccine was prioritized for the military and certain civilian personnel under the Clinton administration and later increased during the Iraqi war. The military thought was that Saddam would use Anthrax against the troops.
Suggesting active military can opt-in or opt-out of a military mandate is to believe the Drill Sergeant is only making a suggestion when he tells his basic training platoon to double-time it down the road. "No, Drill Sergeant, I don't feel like running today. Sorry." The rights of military personnel are encapsulated within the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Georges Clemenceau characterized it this way: "Military justice is to justice, as military music is to music." (No, it wasn't Groucho Marx who said it first.)
I do think dishonorably discharging military personnel who refuse an order-- "You will take the shot"--is a reasonable, consistent remedy for those who refuse to obey orders. What if the shot they're told to take is to assure the enemy doesn't kill them before they kill the enemy? Or, in another context, "Private, you WILL take the shot, before you go home on leave and kill grandma."
I think the overwhelming truth we can glean from anti-vaccination folks is another quote, this one from Christopher Hitchens: "I have always found it quaint and rather touching that there is a movement [Libertarians] in the US that thinks Americans are not yet selfish enough.” Anti-vaccination folks have taken the self-sovereignty thing to heights that absolutely showcase their utter, total disregard for the community, except for their own community which still believe, among other things, that Hillary operated a child sex ring out of a pizza parlor in Manhattan. It's becoming more and more difficult to fix stupid.
Blessed is the man, who having nothing to say, abstains from giving wordy evidence of the fact. -- George Eliot (Mary Anne Evans)
Why do people distrust the vaccine so much? It isn't as dangerous as the naysayers think it is. Nor does it protect the vaccinated as much as we were promised, so once again we are back to mask mandates and requests to see your vaccine records.

I don't think you understand why some people don't trust the vaccine because you so quickly trusted the government and big pharma. I did too so I can't say you're any dumber than me. Just take a good hard look at what this government has been doing for the last 9 months, then ask yourself why some people don't trust an experimental vaccine that is failing to deliver and is possibly causing some new variants... how would we know, it's not like this government would admit the FDA got it wrong.
I'm just saying it's not as much the vaccine they don't trust, it's the people telling them to do it and threatening to take away some freedoms and some jobs if they don't. This isn't how America is supposed to be, and that sick feeling is something too many people are not experiencing, but not me, I'm feeling it more and more every day. If I could go back in time, knowing what I know now, I'm not sure I would have gotten the shot.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
