The Rittenhouse Factor

Forget the trial or the actions the young man took to help a community under attack. If you are a liberal you are probably thinking the kid should be punished for bringing a weapon to a place where he knew there could be trouble and if you're a conservative like me, you likely think he shouldn't have gone there but he had every right to do what he did once he was attacked. I don't want to have that argument.

I'd like to talk about the desire some people have to help and even risk their lives when they know there will be no cavalry coming to save a city or just a person that is under attack. What percentage of people do you think are out there who are willing to risk their personal safety in order to save a community from violent rioters, arsonists, and criminals in general? We've seen recent examples of people being assaulted and raped while bystanders just take out their phones and record the crime instead of trying to prevent the crime. Often I wonder what is happening to our collective minds and if this new attitude is being taught or if it's just some sort or sick evolution.

I think Kyle Rittenhouse had good intentions that day and I also think he is rare, especially for his age. If he really is in the minority and if the trend is to risk less for your fellow human, how could this not lead to eventual chaos and lawlessness throughout the country? The military is having a hard time recruiting and police departments are having an even harder time thanks to narratives made up by angry mobs, journalists, and politicians.

Maybe you're lucky and are insulated from city violence, but you will eventually be effected no matter where you live. Ask yourself what you would do if you knew your small town was being targeted by a violent mob... would you risk your life with others to help save it, if you knew the government was unable to provide the protection we all expect? I know I would.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Great points. The police in Kenosha were told to stand down. Rioters from out of state were burning and looting the community, destroying million dollar fire engines. Should Kyle have just stayed home in another state? Or was he a hero for risking his life standing up to the arsonists and looters?
