Biden's remarks at the National Veterans Day Observance today:
And I just want to tell you, I know you’re a little younger than I am, but, you know, I’ve adopted the attitude of the great Negro — at the time, pitcher in the Negro Leagues — went on to become a great pitcher in the pros — in the Major League Baseball after Jackie Robinson. His name was Satchel Paige.
Snopes:
Ultimately, Biden’s fractured anecdote appeared to be aimed at conveying to Blinken that he was only as old as he felt.
While he did indeed utter the words “I’ve adopted the attitude of the great Negro,” and said them in that order, the context surrounding that sentence fragment does not support the claim or implication that Biden “called” or “referred to” Satchel Paige as “the great Negro.”
He called him a clean, articulate, bright African-American.
There was a time in his lifetime when negro was acceptable and accepted. I think it might even have been pc at the time.
I do not fault him for not being politically astute but I do get a hoot out of the left's defence. I get two hoots out of imagining what HA et al would be saying if Trump had said it.
You're right Bob, it's the obvious hypocrisy that is always the issue on almost everything with Biden and his ass kissing media. As for Biden's comment about Obama, remember he said Obama was "the first" clean and articulate African-American, which tells you everything you need to know about how Biden sees black people. Trump would have been destroyed by both sides if he said that.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
