A conservative who writes for the Atlantic should actually be called a moderate or liberal. The GOP is a big tent, so thinking you can fit it into a pigeonhole is a bad idea. All sorts in the modern Republican Party, many are more anti-socialist than pro-Republican. Others are Trump cultists. Some are single issue voters, anti-abortion, pro-2nd Amendment, or just want lower taxes and less regulation. Plus there are those who are hucksters. The men and women who are trying to make a buck off the Party faithful.

NO CAN DO...Rick,I asked first.....so ANYONE could lay down their thoughts about the article....then I was going to give me my take on it....taking the'' temp'' of the AUDIENCE ,is the aim.
I don't understand why you won't talk about your views of the article. Do you think that your views of the article will influence others or will other's views influence yours?

NEITHER, I am not that egotistical OR a "sheeple".....I am ALWAYS attempting to understand the mindset of others....hard as that is, here on this forum......not enough posters. I posted an innocuous and interesting
link about dogs in the Campfire.....NO response, very small number of views. NOW post something about
politics/our countries division gets the attention...so o o, I was attempting to draw ANY responses, excluding the "usual suspects".
Just WOW.....wondrous window into the past (centuries)....Alaska and Colorado, captures the special companion bond of dogs.
I have a large interest in dogs. (Irish wolfhound. )
Two things.
1. I go directly to he courthouse so I normally never see other forums.
2. Your comment did not excite me enough to follow the link. I suggest that a small quote from the article that captures the essence would be more effective. At least that is what I try to do.
Especially this thread. I did follow the link but the author is too much of a wind bag for me to read the entire piece and distill what his perspective is.

Unable to view first link u posted....I agree the article was arduous to get thru,I wanted to see if OTHERS
could finish it and come out the other side with a POV...u re affirmed my suspicions . It has been expressed to me that the OTHER forums are forgotten and I have attempted to include some posts to
generate a dialogue of interest and trivia.....to NO AVAIL.
