Very frustrating in attempting to watch these series. They are on various and sundry pay channels on the internet and if you have sketchy internet connection it';s not much fun. I cannot speak for Longmire but C.J. Box, the author of Joe Pickett is worth reading before TV makes him unrecognizable.
My imagination from reading the Joe Pickett novels is that he is a rangy 5' 9'' tall, not terrible comfortable riding unless on his own horse or in his pickup. A good father to his 3 daughters, one adopted, and a loving husband who realizes that his wife has skills that he doesn't.
Your perception of Joe may be very different, but that is what a novel is all about.
By the way Joe Pickett would have no intention of relocating to Denver.

Can't argue with you there, Rampage, and it's been about 10 years since I read the ones that were out at the time, but I remember it a lot like you do. I read the Longmire books before the series came out, and it didn't really contradict the books, just different stories. The characters were pretty true to Craig Johnson's writing. I had read all of the Zane Grey's before I was out of high school. I still have my Dad's oold full set. I'll get around to re-reading them one of these days, too, I hope!
There IS something we have in common Ramage,.....I was enamored with all the characters in Longmire, but mostly....Henry,Standing Bear.....Lou Diamond Phillips, when interviewed, stated he only wished he could be that great a man and he strives to do so everyday. We never made to Longmire Days, lodging is booked years in advance and we do not have an RV.....ironic thing, went to K.S.about a week ago ,saw a truck with A BUMPER STICKER...THE OFFICIAL ELECT LONGMIRE FOR SHERIFF LOGO.
I was totally ticked when Sundance,Bravo or whatever station dropped it after the 3rd season....we purchased NETFLIX when it picked it back up......SEASON 6 finale was totally satisfying.they tied in all the characters into a package, that when unwrapped was a truly well written script.
One of my favorite segments was Katie's near death "accident".......Longmire asked Henry to prepare
a ceremony of atonement/sacrifice because he felt karma was at play and he wanted to reverse the outcome..
STAY CALM.HAVE COURAGE AND WAIT FOR SIGNS........best quote ever.

Yellowstone is a great series with some really good characters but can be a little over the top as far as drama goes. I think my favorite character is Beth Dutton who is the most badass of the show. Definitely not a series for kids to watch.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
