He was given a 110 year sentence for killing four. Do you feel the sentence was too extreme? Millions have plead online to have the sentence removed. The DA is now asking the judge to reduce the sentence. What sounds fair to you? Ten years? 20? 5?
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
It comes down to intent for me. While he did not do what he should have and used one of the runaway truck exits, I can imagine that some untrained people may not know about those safeguards or were just too freaked out to think straight. The only way that guy should receive a life sentence would be if he decided to use that truck as a deadly weapon on purpose (like the Waukesha terrorist did)... there was no evidence that the man caused the carnage on purpose. The company who hired him should be under scrutiny as well, but I haven't heard of any action against the company yet.
It was a horrible accident due to a poorly trained driver. If a drunk kills 4 people, I'm pretty sure they never get a life sentence and that person is much more negligent in my opinion. Take away his CDL for life and give him a few years behind bars, but to give him a life sentence is not justice.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
AGREE with all of the above, the company should be scrutinized/fined and the ENTIRE trucking industry
standards/regs should be reviewed and those companies NOT in compliance should b fined heavily. There is an article out there ,written by a female truck driver, that describes the BLATANT illegal practices by the trucking companies....it is horrific reading, because what is promised to the prospective driver is NOT what is the reality. Recruiting is a scam job.....I will see if I can find the VERY graphic details of what it is like to "haul"
''TO GET HIRED YOU PRETTY MUCH JUST HAVE TO HAVE A PULSE'...........some companies r worse than others,do the research
