Hirono sadly reflects the New Left. Laws are less important than the Democrat platform.

Side note: Breyer at 83 sounds much more intelligent than President Biden at 78.

Well to be fair, Breyer never had any brain surgery... but you're right, he's a lot sharper and can actually get through a full sentence.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Breyer is the emeritus of the liberal wing of the SC. Biden will nominate a liberal (black, woman) for his seat. Nothing changes regarding the voting of the court.
The republicans should unanimously confirm whomever he puts forward. Move on.

Limiting the field of candidates to members of 6 % of the U.S. (i.e. black women) certainly should make everyone feel comfortable that she was chosen because of her abilities., not her skin color and gender.

You're 100% right ramage. It doesn't matter who gets confirmed because whoever it is will be a hard left activist and there's no reason to think otherwise. I think the Republicans should let her have the job without a fight as a contrast to how the left treated the conservatives... they tried to destroy their lives but ultimately failed. The Democrats will never change their childish tactics so the Republicans need to not give the state media any ammunition to spread their bullshit.

This won't be nearly enough for the left though, they will still keep talking about packing the court since the majority of Americans are figuring out how their policies are killing our country.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

That's a great way to make that point!

So what happens if one of those octogenarian Democrat Senators die before the nomination is voted on? Should Republicans push for a moderate lefty like Breyer to be the nominee?
The Republicans could make President Biden look really weak if he can get his nominee approved. 8 Supremes until the next President.

The parties aren't the same. The GOP tries to choose the most conservative judge they can find. Biden says, "Get me a black woman, I don't care which one."
