"I had a conversation with a former Secretary of Defense who said, “Well, we've misnamed this. We should call it 'command and feedback.’" That's a step in the right direction but it still maintains the command part, right? What we should have is 'facilitation and feedback.' What are the things that I, or we, can do to facilitate our success? And how open are we going to be to feedback that suggests we stay or change the course?
Inside an operational SEAL team, we're wide open to that feedback, which comes in many different forms: could be a wall of bullets or the most junior person saying, 'Hey, I disagree.'
