Never mind, turns out to be a group of St. Bernard's who make a habit of escaping often. I, myself, am always confusing Wolves with St. Bernard's, and Coyotes with Beagles.

HEY when a MOOSE is mistaken for an elk....we have some seriously inane people.....I never understood the
concept of hey it's BIG, so shoot and ask later.

Do you really know hunters who think like that? I haven't hunted big game in many years but all my hunting buddies are very aware of what they are hunting and know the massive penalties for shooting game they don't have a tag that makes it a legal kill.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
Mistakes happen. We are all human and when you get amped up seeing fur. Sometimes people, especially newbies, shoot before they identify their prey. I tend to go the other way and have let Elk escape because I want to make sure it is the right sex and has the minimum antler size.

You don't remember the ESTES PARK ELK travesty......the BIG ELK that was a sort of mascot for Estes Park.....killed because of it's rack. ( it was awhile back....
Sometimes it is poaching. Sometimes it is thrill-kill crap. But many times it is a simple mistake. Seldom do Deer and Elk wait for you to get a great look at them before you have to make a decision. I do remember an big Antelope buck came up within thirty yards of me when I was shooting Prairie Dogs. The noise from my rifle was making weird noises in the blind and he was curious. I took a couple great photos before he decided to move along.
