The leak of a Supreme Court draft opinion proposing to overturn Roe v. Wade raises a data privacy flash point: If abortion becomes criminal in some states, might a person’s data trail be treated as evidence?
Help Desk: Technology coverage that makes tech work for you

There is precedent for it, and privacy advocates say data collection could become a major liability for people seeking abortions in secret. Phones can record communications, search histories, body health data and other information. Just Tuesday, there was new evidence that commercial data brokers sell location information gathered from the phones of people who visit abortion clinics.[

I have NO CELL PHONE...about a decade ago I had a "razor flip phone".....rarely used....gave it o a women's shelter (they program 911 into for their

Exactly. From the woman who didn't know Putin had cancer.

I believe that abortion should only be legal in the first 20 weeks. A good lenient position compared to European nations like France and Ireland who mandate 15 weeks or less.

The Senate is quietly looking at a bipartisan bill that would set a reasonable abortion limit nationally. Probably be best to have the whole country on the same time limits.

Privacy? Too late, it is impossible to put that genie back in the bottle. If you carry your phone, you can be tracked and your phone can even become a bug for private and government organizations. Way too many times I will be talking about something and then an ad for it appears on my social media.

I did see footage from a demonstration in Hong Kong where street mounted facial identity cameras were taken down by protesters! Good for them. They risked their lives grabbing back a little privacy.

Unfortunately, the lack of a cell phone is not enough. Every computer has an IP address and as such can be spied on and hacked. If you are, for example, going to a public library or an internet cafe you can be relatively safe, however if you are posting on your PC without a VPN (virtual private network) you are easily susceptible .

"Your IP address is essential for sending and receiving information online. But, if a hacker knows your IP address, they can use it to seize very valuable information, including your location and online identity. Using this information as a starting point, they could potentially hack your device, steal your identity, and more."
