"Then there are some who say that every terrible thing—including even this untenable thing that no civilization could endure, this demonic murder lottery of schoolchildren—simply must go on, and somehow, they are winning. After all, wasn’t the Newtown massacre like the breaking of a seal, the final entry in a national catalog of stunned loss that had begun with Columbine? It wasn’t that there would be no more losses. It was only that we could no longer be stunned. Yesterday, before the families of Uvalde had buried their children, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a televised interview that he would “much rather have law-abiding citizens armed and trained so that they can respond when something like this happens, because it’s not going to be the last time.” That is to say: It’s going to go on indefinitely. It’s not an end, exactly, but life inside a permanent postscript to one’s own history. Here is America after there was no more hope."
The DNC figured out after the AWB passed that voting against guns nationally is a losing proposition. When it came time to extend it, the pro-2nd Amendment Republicans controlled the House and Senate so it didn't continue.
If the Democrats really cared, they should try to repeal the 2nd Amendment state by state. I am sure Massachusetts and California would pass it.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
The only question that matters is how do we best protect the innocent from that evil?
The left’s answer is not to focus on the evil, it’s to focus on the tool that evil uses. Evil will ALWAYS find a tool and that can be in a multitude of forms.
Evil is also uniquely human, so you have to understand human behavior in order to fight evil. Evil people don’t care about our laws and never will, so we must always expect those people to find ways around our laws, because they will.
If we mark certain areas as “gun free zones”, we incentivize evil people to exploit those zones… it’s like we are taunting them and daring them to break that law. Human nature is to follow the path of least resistance, just like electricity. Gun free zones are the ultimate path of least resistance for any evil person wanting to kill innocent lives.
So tell me HA, if you were a mother sending your child to school tomorrow, would you feel safer sending that child to a school that had a big sign saying “gun free zone” or would you feel safer sending your child to a school that advertises its many armed and trained staff members?
How about a grocery store or a movie theater? There’s are reason why places like courthouses and the DMV are two of the safest places we can go.., the government protects its employees will people who have guns. It’s time to give that same level of protection to our schools.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
