OPINIONS

OPINIONS was created by ramage
In order to have meaningful discussions of the following, first one should state their opinion as to:

1. When does a fetus become a human being?

2. Should the U.S. continue in its proxy war against Russia?

3. Should the U.S. go back to producing oil to insure energy independence?

These re basic positions, but if you prefer to nuance go right ahead,

The first question is one of belief. And I feel can be answered in a straightforward way by anyone with what they consider their moral compass.

The second questions begs what you think the U.S. position in the world should be.

The third is as I write this seemingly dependent on #2.

Hang on ramage... I'll be back as soon as I can find the opinions of people I trust enough to use their words.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

I changed my mind and decided to give you my thoughts, based on what I believe to be true (aka my opinion).

1. From a scientific standpoint, a human being begins at fertilization so I don't think that is a belief, unless you don't believe science.

2. No war has ever been won using half measures, so no, we should except the reality that NATO is not dedicated to defeating Putin and the US should stop trying to prolong the inevitable on our own (especially with a half functional leader in charge).

3. Fossil fuels power the world and is one of the biggest factors causing inflation. To not increase the production and exploration of fossil fuels is to accept that prices will continue to climb and prosperity will continue to decline. Those who want this country to decline must want to phase out fossil fuels before alternative forms of energy are viable and affordable... I am not one of those people., that would be our president.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Conception, as defined, is the joining of the sperm and egg. At which time, unique DNA is created.
The fusion of sperm and egg occurs in the Fallopian tube, creating a zygote, which then implants in the uterus.
The "morning after pill" either attempts to prevent ovulation or implantation. This form of contraception is used by females who have had unprotected sex. She takes the pill not knowing whether or not the joining of sperm and egg has occurred.
This is my difficulty with the definition of life as that of beginning with fertilization. Is any female taking the morning after pill committing abortion?
In my mind, the fetus becomes a human being when a fetal heart beat can be detected. I do not consider the creation of unique DNA to be a human being.
The somewhat detailed description of conception was necessary to explain my position.

There is a conscious movement to divest fossil fuel companies from investment portfolios. This thinking is shortsighted.
It is better to get our energy needs domestically. Drilling here in the US is monitored better than overseas oil and gas fields, especially in places like Nigeria and Venezuela. So it is better for the enviroment to drill here.
And buying oil and gas from domestic suppliers is better for America. Oil royalties pay local, state, and national taxes. Also locals hire Americans. Plus buying our energy from Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Russia helps to fund autocrats who oppress the people in their own countries. America shouldn't be dependent on brutal dictators.

Drill, baby, drill!
