If you think back (inevitably) to the Senate Watergate hearings in 1973, every dramatic moment in those proceedings came in words spoken by witnesses, unadorned by visuals and made-for-TV moments: the affectless face of John Dean as he recalled telling President Richard Nixon that there was “a cancer” on the presidency, and — most significant — White House functionary Alexander Butterfield telling minority counsel Fred Thompson yes, there was a taping system inside the White House. (If you watch the video, you’ll see a reporter at the press table behind Butterfield suddenly snap to attention, the body language shouting: What did he just say?)

The old-fashioned, methodical parade of witnesses during the Watergate hearings was powerful not because of what we saw, but because of what we heard: We were learning facts we did not know, and that was, over time, causing minds to change. (Sen. Howard Baker’s famous “What did the president know and when did he know it?” was, as Garrett Graff’s superb recent Watergate book reminds us, framed to help exculpate Nixon; to suggest that if the break-in and cover-up was a matter of subordinates, the president could be saved. It was more than a year later that the disclosure of the tapes demonstrated just how much he did know.)

IF U WERE OLD ENOUGH.....to understand the ramifications, common sense came to a conclusive consensus. COMMON SENSE, now there is a
concept that is out of date and .no where to be found. STILL SEEING Q 3,4 OF 2023 AS A DISASTER FOR TRUMP....(WHEN U CAN CALL YOUR OWN DAUGHTER "CHECKED OUT" AND INEFFECTIVE.......that is a truly toasted Trump, who is snarling in a corner of his own making.) JMO

President Trump, was 26 years old when the Watergate Break-in occurred.
I applaud your efforts to implicate him in that incident. And for whatever reason,( unrelated to the citation) to prognosticate that he will suffer a disaster in the latter part of 2023.
All of the above tied to a citation from politico.com that discusses Watergate, June, 1972, 50 years ago!

While this "wait for it" drama is getting old and tiresome, it is somewhat humorous so I'll engage again and see if we can establish how much common sense you actually have, since you repeated the term twice.

When you first understood that the Steele Dossier was made up Russian garbage, paid for by the Clinton campaign prior to the election, did your common sense ever kick in and make you wonder if the Democrats and your media were telling the truth? My common sense kicked in immediately, which is why I made such a big deal about the longest dead end thread this board has ever created.

How about when you found out that the FBI altered an email in order to convince a FISA judge to issue a warrant to spy on an innocent American? Did your common sense kick in then and cause you to wonder if the FBI was acting as a private enforcement arm for the DNC? I know your sources didn't think that was a big deal, but your common sense and knowledge of our civil rights should have made you stop and question the whole story... but it didn't.

I've used the term "common sense" on this board for years because I don't believe a good percentage of Democrats have any. We are seeing it play out right now when it comes to the economy and all the people who are hurting. Common sense is knowing that if you purposely increase the costs of fossil fuels, the result will be increased costs of everything, including the windmills and solar panels that rely on fossil fuels to be produced.

I could go on and on and on about pretty much every leftist policy where common sense is not part of the equation, only the desired outcome, which never seems to materialize unless it's intentional pain and destruction.

So you go on hoping for your desired outcome while the country is burning down... in a way you're lucky to be in your Q4 of life. My kids and future grandkids will have to pay the price for all these bad decisions being made and all the energy used down the one guy who was able to come in and expose the grift, instead of using that energy to stop the killing of the poor and middle class.

I know you're response already... "it's just the fourth turning and there's nothing we can do about it". That's not common sense. Common sense is knowing that
the destiny of every country is deterimined by decisions made by people and no outcome is inevitable.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Opinion | There’s a Reason the Watergate Hearings Were Explosive — and the Jan. 6 Hearings Won’t Be

The new information reinforced what we already knew, making it unlikely that any minds will be changed.

Or once the GOP takes back the House and Senate, do the investigations end? Or will lame duck Biden make that his swan song. AOC refuses to endorse the elderly former Delaware senator.

Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
