Westword article this week about the small town of Moffat, Colorado, located in the San Luis Valley. Little place, less than 150 citizens but newcomers have big plans for this poor community. They first started large Marijuana growing operations because of the abundant water. They also want to rename the town. Moffat was a member of the KKK, the pot people think renaming it "Kush" after a dope growing region of Afghanistan would attract more tourists and investors. They envision the community would invite people to come and smoke dope and hang out, helping the economy of one of the poorest counties in Colorado.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
I wish them luck, the San Luis Valley needs the money but I bet their plans don't work out. There isn't enough housing for the workers or the visitors and not enough money and infrastructure to build more.
