Colorado GOP Treasurer Resigns!

Wow! Been catching up on the Fairplay Flume and it looks like a huge election is coming up for Park County. Dave Wissel won the nomination for the Republicans, he is very conservative but also appears to have made some enemies so a woman who is conservative became a Democrat in order to run against him. The statewide GOP treasurer donated money to her campaign. The party demanded he resign. He did write a letter of resignation but refused to admit he did anything wrong. Guess there are still men of principle in politics.

Should be quite a contest!

I was going to say, and now for the rest of the story, but instead I will provide the following information. Dick Elsner, the Republican Treasurer, recently retired/resigned his position as a Park County Commissioner, after many years, third party rumor, or as the press likes to say, anonymous sources have reported that he has retired from politics, he wants out. It was no skin off his nose to resign but not recant his position. The candidate whom he backed, as you pointed out is also a conservative, but she lost in her bid at the party level and is now attempting to garner the seat via an alternate apporach. She was "hand picked" by Elsner to take his position, then Wissel came along and won the primary and upset the powers that be in the County.
