It certainly does not have the support in conference and to bring it to the floor. It would have to survive with Democratic votes,” Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Fla.) said. “We’re currently sitting on a tinderbox. So to do that, it would set off the fuse that would certainly end in civil war within the GOP, and I don't believe that anybody wants to do that.”

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) summed it up succinctly: “The resolution is dead.”

It’s the latest setback for House Republicans who have foundered in near-total bedlam since eight Republicans joined with Democrats to oust former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) 16 days ago. No member of their conference, including speaker designee Jim Jordan, currently has the votes to win over the speaker’s gavel.

dysfunctional doesn't even begin to describe the debacle of unable to govern.......we r so--o FUBARED it would be funny, if it wasn't so utterly disgraceful.

The following is an opinion that I hold. Within the Uniparty, democrats want power, Republicans want money. Democrats use money to get power, Republicans use power to get money. Democrat donors support ideology. Republican politicians chase donor money. This is the essential difference in the two wings of the UniParty apparatus.

What do you think?

I agree with your statements but would add that Democrats know better how to get to power they seek and the Republicans don't because they are more likely to stay within constitutional boundries, therefore are less effective in gaining power.

The other thing you have to consider is that the Democrats have the backing of every culrtural institution and every government agency. Without the alliance with the FBI, CIA, DOE, NSA, CDC, etc., they would have a much harder time gaining and holding the power they so desperately want. Republicans can't change that fact with better ideas, so they are at a huge disadvantage.

Republicans are their own worst enemy. Congressman Buck was evicted from his office because he voted against Jordan.

No, Fred, they are finally starting to grow some balls. Guys like Buck need to be flushed out of the party, like Romney, Cheney, and Kinsinger. Buck is safe because Colorado is lost.

If you want all Republican candidates to be true blue conservatives, the GOP will always be a minority party. Candidates like Buck who need to win in liberal areas like Aurora need to be more moderate. Half loaf is better than no loaf.

Frankly Trump was too liberal to me, but he had a chance to win the White House. Something that Ted Cruz didn't have. And so moderate Trump got abortion repealed and the most conservative Supreme Court in decades. Imagine how different it would be if Cruz was nominated and lost? Hillary Clinton would have been picking judges for four to eight years.
