It would behoove you to read the original paper. This article has nothing to do with wages, rather what industry, in this case, primarily pharmaceutical, pays to M.D.'s to tout their products. The quote above sums up the attitude of female physicians as to their priorities.

Often these pieces also show that many women are too timid to ask for raises. Should women start testosterone therapy so they are more aggressive in the workplace? Demanding higher wages and better working conditions?
