How Could Trump End "Democracy" and Elections

25 Jan 2024 09:17 #1 by Rick
TV morons like Rachael Maddow and 90% of the worthless media is telling their bubble dwellers that Trump is somehow going to put an end to democracy (we don't live in a democracy btw) and he's going to end elections and be a dictator.

I've never heard one of those fools explain how he would be able to do that. Maybe one of you could enlighten me? And no, I'm not talking about anything Trump says, I'm talking about the actions he would take that would make those predictions come true.

What news sources do you actually read, Rick? Seriously.

It's fairly easy to see, especially after the New Hampshire primary, that Trump will be the nominee. Republicans are terrified of upsetting him and are falling in line already. Trump has the Supreme Court stacked for conservatives - three put there by his hand. He may even have both houses of Congress.

Then there is his blatant disregard for law. It's very apparent that he feels no laws apply to him. If he wins the case on immunity, then he will have absolutely no checks on his power. He will be able to do whatever he wants. Remember, he said he wold be a dictator on day one, and when was the last time a dictator ever gave up power?

He already has a plan to fire all non-loyal federal employees and replace them with his lackeys. Remember that?

Here's a nice opinion piece from the conservative Washington Post that might enlighten you and demonstrate how Trump could become a dictator (king) in this country.

What limits those powers? The most obvious answer is the institutions of justice — all of which Trump, by his very election, will have defied and revealed as impotent. A court system that could not control Trump as a private individual is not going to control him better when he is president of the United States and appointing his own attorney general and all the other top officials at the Justice Department. Think of the power of a man who gets himself elected president despite indictments, courtroom appearances and perhaps even conviction? Would he even obey a directive of the Supreme Court? Or would he instead ask how many armored divisions the chief justice has?

You are assumed by that the president is all powerful and can force people to do what he wants. Were you asleep during his last presidency? He couldn’t even get $5 billion to secure our border. You also fail to acknowledge that most of the system Republicans hate Trump. Why would any Republican do unconstitutional things just because Trump wanted them to?

You must be watching way too much Maddow instead of using your common sense. Even the military leaders don’t like him so there’s no way he or anyone else could be a dictator and end elections.

Oh, Rick, honey, I don't watch Maddow. She's too biased.

If Trump is elected, he will become the most powerful president in history. He will probably have all three branches behind him and in his control. I agree that most Republicans hate Trump, but he has a rabid cult base, of which you are obviously a member, and they will make it difficult, through violence or threats, for politicians and Supreme Court Justices to not do his bidding. Look at how anyone who has opposed him in Congress has been voted out. Look at how judges and witnesses have been threatened.

It can happen, Rick. If he's elected, we are all screwed, as he will have no checks on his revenge tour.

And to top it off, trump has been pushing the house R's and now the Senate R's to oppose the current legislation to improve immigration the conditions at the border. TFG feels if they pass this legislation, it will help Biden and he can no longer run on it.

"During the earlier closed-door GOP meeting, McConnell told colleagues that Trump does not want a deal on immigration restrictions so he can use the issue in the presidential campaign — remarks that left some Senate Republicans paralyzed Thursday over where to go next."

I know some of the cult would never believe this since they worship cheeto jesus, but it doesn't change the fact that President Biden and the Dem caucus has been trying to pass immigration legislation but the hard right opposes so it can help TFG.

Dirver8,
Please stick around long enough to tell us what specifically is the immigration legislation that the democrats want to pass in Congress.

Trump, if elected, will be a very weak President. Plenty of DC Republicans will refuse to support him. Biden has been loading up the courts so they will be liberal and shutting down his executive orders. Trump's belligerence against any Republicans who don't follow him blindly will make it hard for moderate GOP House members and senators to win primaries over the radical candidates he supports.

He even affected the last race in Colorado, attacking the moderate Republicans who beat his hand picked choices in the primary.

So I disagree. President Trump's second term would not destroy democracy. But expect the press to still trumpet this nonsense in order to get more votes and money for their favorite candidates.

Actually Fred he will be a strong President. The SC has shown that the Executive has primacy on defending our borders. He can end funding for Ukraine and Israel. He can withdraw military personnel from Iraq and Syria. He can curb all the departments that are in the executive branch. Those are for starters, much more to follow.

Some people just like to yell out their car window as they drive by so they don’t have to defend their position. I wouldn’t expect much more from this guy.

Fred, you also have to realize that Republicans are tired of being rolled by the leftists. We have suffered through weak moderate door mats and Trump proved that an outsider that doesn’t bend over is something this country needs. The Bush/Romney/Cheney/ McConnell era is coming to an end… thank goodness.
