The mythical tie between immigration and crime

Opponents of immigration often argue that immigrants drive up crime rates. But newly released research from Stanford economist Ran Abramitzky and his co-authors finds that hasn’t been the case in America for the last 140 years.

Here's another study:

www.ojp.gov/library/publications/compari...legal-immigrants-and

The study found that undocumented immigrants had substantially lower crime rates than native-born citizens and legal immigrants across a range of felony offenses. Relative to undocumented immigrants, U.S.-born citizens are over 2 times more likely to be arrested for violent crimes, 2.5 times more likely to be arrested for drug crimes, and over 4 times more likely to be arrested for property crimes. In addition, the proportion of arrests involving undocumented immigrants in Texas was relatively stable or decreasing over this period. The differences between U.S.-born citizens and undocumented immigrants are robust to using alternative estimates of the broader undocumented population, alternate classifications of those counted as “undocumented” at arrest and substituting misdemeanors or convictions as measures of crime. If you were an illegal alien and had a crime committed against you by another illegal alien in your community, would you risk deportation by going to the police and filing a report?
Especially if you came from a nation where the police were corrupt and did little to help the victims of crime.
Or if the perpetrator was the member of a powerful criminal gang and would harm you and your family if you went to the police?

Would you?
So you can see why official statistics don't always tell the truth?

K, you probably don't live in a community where you have to worry about gangsters.

So you are right. Crime rates don't increase due to the influx of illegal immigrants, because crimes are underreported in their communities.

BTW, how many illegal aliens do you think the US should absorb every year in a population of 330 million?
10 million per year
5 million per year?
25 million per year?

Venezuela is releasing prisoners and now we are getting them. Some on this board need to put themselves in the shoes of people who live on the cities that are devolving into hell holes. The problem will eventually touch all of our lives through higher taxes, higher insurance, higher healthcare premiums, and higher risks of being a victim.

Anyone who thinks it’s ok to allow millions of people to enter our country UNVETTED, has zero common sense and I hope they don’t vote.

It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers−out of unorthodoxy
