Democrats think that "uniting the country" is best done by addressing and appeasing individual groups as victims. You can't have victims without villains, so the left makes blanket statements about how the right thinks, and they are always wrong. This is just anecdotal, but it's the truth. The area where we have our restaurant is a mountain community that has a noticeably large group of lesbian residents, for whatever reason. One couple in particular has been hanging out at my bar since the first week we opened. My wife and I have become very good friends with them and have had dinner at their house. One of them is a chef who I hired part time. She is well off and doesn't need the job, but she really wants to help us succeed. I also hire her friend (also lesbian) full time to cook and serve.
My point is that Democrats in Washington and in the media need people like me to be the villain so they can bring the victims to their side and keep them there. Americans are waking up to this tactic and Democrats are starting to lose their manufactured victims. This is how it should be. Now Democrats have to start convincing people with policy, not by pitting us against each other like Obama did and continues to do.
