An interesting question arises with Trump winning the election.
Do the Republicans in Congress try to get their main job (setting the budget) finished by 20 December and pass a budget for all of FY2025 using the cudgel of what is likely to happen once their party gains control of Congress if the Democrats insist on another CR, or do they angle for a CR on the budget and have that on their calendar during the first 100 days of Trump's administration?
From my perspective, better to iron out FY2025 prior to the end of this Congress so there's a clean slate after Trump's inauguration, even if that means making a few compromises with the Democrats to get it done.
