An analysis of dozens of British Iron Age skeletons has revealed that Celtic society was organized around women.

And if so, when, and why, did they abandon that form of organization in favor of a patriarchal one 2,000-3,000 years ago?

Despite matriarchal societies, queens were still rare. Most of the chieftains were male.

Like a lion pride, the women hunt and the males protect the tribe?

PrintSmith also makes a good point… why didn’t that last? Your title suggests that you do have something to say… so say it.

The answer is pretty obvious . . . these United States might have the same system of government as Canada if our affiliation with Great Britain hadn't needed to be altered/abolished. But being subjects of King George just wasn't working out, so a baseline change of the system was needed.

I just happen to love archeology (as a kid I wanted to be one).....how ancient society/communities lived is such a vast subject and technology has made huge advances in our ability to UNDERSTAND our past
ancestors....it allows a window into evolution/progress/lifestyles and beliefs......which I find to be deeply
interesting.....it allows "myths" and assumptions to be clarified and corrected.

OK, I get that. However, that doesn’t explain the title of this thread. You’re saying that matriarchal patterns still exist and continue to this day. You must have been thinking of a current example and I’m just curious about what you’re referring to.

I think the theory that matriarchal construct was limited or not wide spread is NOW being examined more closely. I believe that it was global and created a BETTER paradigm.

NOW, when we talk about religion *, THAT PART OF THE FEMALE story is omitted.... read the GNOSTIC GOSPELS BY PAGELL (?).....The entire "Bible" was revised to erase the prominence of the female

I’m assuming that you long for a matriarchal shift, which leads me to another question… what would that look like on a macro level? Are there thriving societies today that you think should be emulated or is this just one of those “I am woman hear me roar” dreams?
