"It would signal an attack by the largest and most economically powerful country in the world on international health cooperation," says David McCoy, a public health researcher at the United Nations University International Institute for Global Health based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

That cooperation, he argues, is essential for managing pandemics and other cross-border health threats.

If only 20% of the WHO budged is represented by UN assessments, and the US contribution to that pot is 10% of the total, as stated in the article, then WHO will only lose 2% of its total budget, which shouldn't place too much of a hardship on its global operations. Maybe the Gates Foundation and other US donations from private sources will step up their contributions to cover the shortfall . . . unless, of course, the vast majority of the funds provided to WHO by the federal government are "voluntary" contributions, which will now cease, in addition to the "assessed" contributions. If that's the case, which the NPR seeks to hide in its "reporting" of the facts, then the US withdrawal from WHO will indeed have a significant impact on their funding going forward.

Figures won't lie, but liars will figure . . . right? NPR is, once again, being deceptive in their "reporting" of the "truth", aren't they HA . . .

Tell me, HA, how much value did we get from the WHO during COVID? Was that organization responsible for saving lives? If so, how so?

I’d ask the same about the UN when it comes to solving global conflicts.

In summary, withdrawal from WHO entails three fundamental errors that are averse to America's national interests. First, China does not have a major influence at WHO, but withdrawing from WHO would open a large vacuum that China could try to fill. Second, withdrawal from WHO would not make Americans healthier and safer. It would do the opposite by weakening our ability to rapidly detect and respond to health emergencies. Third, withdrawal from WHO would be harmful to our industries and economy. By diminishing the availability of crucial scientific data, both NIH and our pharmaceutical companies would be impaired in their ability to innovate and bring lifesaving products to the marketplace.

AS WE SPEAK,THE AVIAN FLU IS RAGING AND THE PRICE OF EGGS IS OFF THE CHARTS......u (collectively) need to do some forward thinking....what else is waiting in the wings?

YOU, specifically, need to tell us what forward thing looks like. You always use that term and say you are a "free thinker", yet you NEVER offer solutions to problems you think we (collectively) are unaware of.

Being lectured by someone who never offers answers or solutions is very rich indeed. Waiting...

And what has the WHO done to mediate the problems besides issue the recommendation to kill millions of egg laying chickens which causes an egg shortage and prices to spike . . . along with the recent dictate from the Colorado General Assembly, and signed by Polis, that requires all the eggs in Colorado now must be from free ranging chickens. Think the elites running the government for the last 4 years have helped, or hindered, the cost of eggs and the spread of Avian Flu . . .

The largest pandemic of the last one hundred years happened on WHO'S watch. Tens of millions died. And WHO covered up China's involvement.

They did nothing to help. They admitted their mask mandates and distancing requirements didn't have any science to them. They are just another useless bureaucracy.

I agree with the facts both of you listed, yet, HA still trusts them as being honest experts that should dictate how we live. That’s not forward thinking, it’s not thinking at all.
