Disruptors who will make a change in the way departments of the federal government approach their jobs is the goal. Left, right, center, really makes no difference as long as the change they are looking to make is one that reduces the size, scope, and cost of the federal government. Wouldn't really be at all surprised to find out Trump is having folks clinging to the far left portion of the Democrat party by their fingernails be the ones who do the actual audit at the DoD. Why? They are the ones most motivated to make a productive and cost effective change to the entrenched bureaucracy and incompetency in that department of the federal government.
