And you see very little support here for that action, don't you. What does that tell you about how well it will be received in the MAGA community HA? Most will oppose it, just as most here do. Of course collectivists will oppose it, because it isn't "their side" talking about handing out "free" money this time around, but you didn't see any opposition to a plan to cancel tens of billions of dollars in student loan debt from those same collectivists, did you now, or to expand the child tax credits, or to extend the "rebate" for buying electric vehicles, or the money to build charging stations for those vehicles at taxpayer expense. Collectivists are just mad because this time around it might be the opposite side using the federal treasury to buy votes rather than them doing it.

Know what you did see opposition to from the same group of folks who are expressing opposition to this trial balloon? The stimulus checks that were the root cause of the runaway inflation, which the collectivists supported whole hog. The Inflation (non)Reduction Act . . . which collectivists supported whole hog. The Borrow to Build Back legislation, which collectivists also supported whole hog.

The Left is fine with pouring billions into overseas dark money projects, but when government wants to return money to taxpayers, they want it to go back to pay off the debt.

Reminds me of Colorado Democrats trying to destroy TABOR. "We must take away the power of the purse away from taxpayers!"

I think I’m changing my mind about the $5k. What Trump and Musk are doing is so important, they are going to need the full 4 years to expose everything. The midterms are too important to risk losing, so why not use the Democrat playbook and satisfy the masses? The would have to get energy prices very low first, which would help reduce the expected inflation. Maybe they could give the money out in weekly payments of $100 instead of the lump sum. That would last a year and would ease that money into the economy instead of a big dump.

They can’t let the Democrats get in the way… we won’t get a second chance.
